'Unusual' deals for key Dong staff led to Eldrup's resignation

Anders Eldrup resigned as chief executive of DONG on Monday amid an internal investigation over “unusual employment and termination terms” he arranged for several other workers, the company says.

DONG’s board of directors says it “unanimously lost confidence” in Eldrup after discovering that he unilaterally cut sweetheart deals for “a few key employees”.

That version of events dynamites the innocuous resignation announcement made on 12 March, when the board said Eldrup was leaving the company “by mutual consent”.

The discovery of the extraordinary deals brokered by Eldrup was only made “in the last few days”, the company says.
