ABB wins $15m cabling work at UK's Humber Gateway wind farm

ABB will supply the power export cables for the UK’s Humber Gateway offshore wind farm after winning an order worth about $15m from developer E.ON.

The Zurich-based industrial group will design and supply two 14km circuits of submarine cable, with integrated fibre-optics, to connect Humber Gateway to the mainland grid.

Delivery of the cable is scheduled for 2013, with the 219MW wind farm off England's east coast due to enter service in 2015.

Earlier this week ABB announced the formation a joint venture with Norwegian offshore specialist Inocean to focus on offshore wind transmission infrastructure.
