German turbine manufacturer Siemens has received orders for 90 machines with a combined capacity of 200MW for two projects in Thailand – its wind unit's first orders from the country.

The SWT-2.3.101 2.3MW turbines will be delivered this spring to the Korat 1 and Korat 2 wind farms in Nakorn Rachasrima Province in northeastern Thailand, with commissioning scheduled for the end of the year.

For Korat 1 project the customer is KR Two, while the purchaser for Korat 2 project is First Korat Wind.

Both companies are subsidiaries of Thailand’s Wind Energy Holding. It plans to spend $550m developing wind power in Thailand.

"The market entry in Thailand proves that our business gains momentum in Asia," says Kay Weber, chief executive of Log in to read complete article.
