Vestas names Rieks as offshore wind head, gets Kentish Flats nod

Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has named Hans Jörn Rieks as head of its Offshore unit.

News of the appointment came as Vestas secured preferred-supplier status from Vattenfall for extension of its Kentish Flats UK offshore project.

Rieks was formerly president of Vestas Central Europe and has been with the company for 18 years, bringing extensive market experience to the role. He is known within the organisation as one its top salesmen.

Rieks says that among the challenges of his new role will be to bring the flagship 7MW V164 offshore turbine to the market in a timely fashion, as well as look at developing strategic partnerships.
