Windstream adds to Wolfe Island impetus with new supply deals

Canada’s Windstream Energy has pushed on with its plans to develop the 300MW Wolfe Island Shoals wind farm in Lake Ontario by signing four lead-off deals for the C$1.5bn ($1.49bn) project.

The quartet of deals – with Bermingham Foundation Solutions (BFS), Walters Group, McKeil Marine and the Hamilton Port Authority (HPA) – follows a turbine supply agreement Windstream signed with Siemens earlier this month.

The new agreements add to the project’s momentum and pile further pressure on Ontario’s provincial government to lift a moratorium on offshore development it imposed in early 2011.
