Enel Green Power wins 99MW Chile wind farm concession

Enel Green Power (EGP) has been granted an area of public land in Chile’s Antofagasta region to build a 99MW wind farm.

The Ministry of National Property, in an agreement with the Ministry of Energy, granted land in the Taltal district to Enel Chile, a subsidiary of Italy's EGP. The concession includes 2,600 hectares.

Feasibility studies and an environmental impact assessment will be analysed, after which the company will build the 99MW project with 33 wind turbines. The specific machine to be used was not identified.

The Taltal wind farm will connect to the central grid, SIC, through a substation 60km away.

The tender that awarded the land was announced in December 2010, but Log in to read complete article.
