Daewoo to develop 7MW turbine, has 'no plans' to buy Bard

Daewoo has “no plans” to buy German offshore specialist Bard and is pushing ahead with development of its own 7MW wind turbine, a senior manager tells Recharge.

Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) was linked with Bard last month when a spokesman for the Korean company said the two were in early-stage talks.

However, Byung Taek Jeon, senior manager at DSME’s wind business, says Bard – which was put up for sale in August – is not on its agenda. “We have no plans to invest in them. It’s not effective for us,” he says.
