UK Round 3 offshore wind projects in planning struggle

Companies developing the UK’s giant Round 3 offshore wind zones are moving ahead with planned capacity targets, but timelines are coming under pressure as they get to grips with the planning process.

Crown Estate Round 3 manager Alastair Dutton tells Recharge that some companies are bringing forward their plans, but others face delays.

“Two developers have moved forward their programmes,” says Dutton, without naming them. But he adds: “We have developers wrestling with market change with the Electricity Market Reform going on, as well as information coming back from their surveys, and in some cases they are coming back with topics that will cause some delay.”
