two
Danish
companies
will
install
and
test
the
V164-7MW
turbine
at
Dong’s
demonstration
site
off
Frederikshavn.
Installation
is
due
in
2013
at
the
Denmark
site,
where
Dong
has
permission
to
install
a
total
of
six
demonstration
turbines.
Vestas
unveiled
the
V164-7MW
in
March,
when
Ditlev
Engel,
Vestas
chief
executive,
described
it
as
having
“epic
proportions
to
address
energy
challenges
of
a
similar
dimension”.
The
V164-7MW
is
a
bespoke
offshore
turbine
specifically
designed
for
the
harsh
conditions
in
northern
European
waters.
