Vestas in pole position for 129MW Eneco offshore wind deal

Danish wind turbine supplier Vestas has been handed preferred bidder status by Dutch developer Eneco for an offshore project in the Netherlands.

Eneco plans to invest €400m-450m ($550m-619m) on a new wind farm 23km offshore from the Dutch town of Noorwikj.

The project will use 43 Vestas V112 3MW turbines, making a total capacity of 129MW. Construction is due to begin in 2013.

The wind farm is being supported by the Dutch government from the remaining budget for the country’s Sustainable Energy Production scheme’s Round 2.

There are plans to expand it later to 150MW by replacing seven turbines with new 6MW machines. A grant has been requested from the EU’s NER300 fund to support this,…
