Port plans Belgium's biggest onshore wind farm in Antwerp

A consortium led by the Antwerp Port Authority (APA) plans to build Belgium’s largest onshore wind farm in the city.

APA will be the biggest shareholder in the project, which will be sited on the left bank of the river Scheldt.

Studies have shown that the site could support up to 55 turbines, says APA. It expects the wind farm to provide power to up to 120,000 homes, but does not specify a planned project capacity.

A group of companies called Antwerp Green Port, which includes Belgian renewables specialist Electrawinds, will develop the project in conjunction with the APA and local development body the Left Bank Corporation.
