Shanghai Electric wins bid for 100MW offshore wind farm

Shanghai Electric has won the tender to supply turbines to the next phase of a wind project off the coast of Shanghai.

The company will install 26 of its 3.6MW turbines at the East China Sea Bridge wind farm.

Shanghai Electric Windpower Equipment bid around 4,790 yuan ($749) per kW, company officials confirmed to Recharge.

Bidding prices for onshore turbines in July were around 3,700 yuan.

The local firm beat rivals including Sinovel, China’s largest turbine supplier, and XEMC, according to reports.

Sinovel offered to supply 6MW turbines at 5,298 yuan per kW while XEMC bid 8,000 yuan. Sinovel supplied the first phase of the East China Sea Bridge wind farm with its 3MW turbines.
