Iberdrola submits fresh plans for 400MW Wikinger offshore wind

Spanish energy giant Iberdrola has submitted a revised environmental statement to the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency as it seeks planning consent for the 400MW Wikinger wind farm in the Baltic Sea.

Iberdrola says the updated statement covers fixed foundations for the project’s turbines, rather than the floating-turbine design which had previously passed the first stage of planning approval in 2007, before Iberdrola’s involvement.

Iberdrola purchased the Wikinger project – formerly called Offshore Wind Park Ventotec Ost II – in 2010.

The site is located around 35km from the northeastern coast of Germany, close to the border with Denmark.
