The
met-masts
will
gather
weather
data
to
help
ensure
that
the
wind
turbines
at
the
9GW
development
–
the
largest
offshore
zone
ever
awarded
–
are
designed
and
orientated
to
maximise
its
power
generating
capacity.
Atkins
will
begin
by
carrying
out
the
conceptual
appraisal
for
the
met-mast
sub-structures,
which
will
be
located
in
water
depths
of
22-25
metres,
before
performing
the
detailed
design
for
the
foundation
and
topsides.
“Met-masts
provide
valuable
information
for
characterising
the
long-term
environmental
conditions
and
wind
resource
that
inform
the
economic
viability
of
a
wind
project,”
says
