Its developers claim the Bucket Foundation offers significant benefits offshore

First Olsen has bought a 60% stake in the company behind a “Bucket Foundation” design for offshore wind deployments.

The Norwegian company claims Universal Foundation's “revolutionary design” combines the benefits of a gravity-base foundation, a monopole and a suction bucket in a single system, offering cost and performance advantages over existing alternatives.

Denmark's Universal Foundation – formerly known as MBD Offshore Power – is bringing the Bucket Foundation into production after almost a decade of development, which has included successful trial installations of turbines and met masts.
