Italian authorities return 'Mafia link' wind farm stakeholding

Italian Mafia investigators have returned a 15% share in a Sicilian wind farm seized last year from renewables developer Greentech Energy Systems.

Denmark’s Greentech says its holding in the Minerva Messina project has been released by a court in Trapani.

Italian authorities confiscated the stake last September as part of an inquiry into alleged underworld links of the developer who sold the 48MW facility to Greentech.

The move formed part of a wider investigation into whether the Mafia was "going green" by laundering money through renewable energy assets.
