Siemens inks 580MW Statkraft supply deal for Swedish wind

Siemens will supply Statkraft with up to 253 onshore turbines after signing a framework agreement with the Norwegian utility’s wind-power arm.

The total deal could see could see Siemens deliver more than 580MW to Swedish developments by Statkraft SCA Vind by the end of 2014.

The German manufacturer will ship 37 of its new 2.3MW direct-drive machines to a project in central Sweden in the first firm order under the agreement.

The Mörttjärnberget project marks the first contract for Siemens’ SWT-2.3-113 turbine, which was designed for low-to-moderate wind speeds and went on the market three months ago.

The new machine accounts for all but 40 of the onshore turbines covered by the framework agreement. The Log in to read complete article.
