Statkraft to spend $352m on new wind in Sweden and Scotland

Statkraft's existing UK wind farm in Wales

Norwegian utility Statkraft will invest about €250m ($352m) to build new wind farms in Sweden and Scotland.

The 100MW Mörttjärnberget wind project in Sweden will be sited in Bräcke, southeast of Östersund in the country’s midlands.

The facility will be built and operated by the project company Statkraft Vind, which is owned 60% by Statkraft and 40% by Swedish paper group SCA.

The 52.5MW Baillie wind farm will be located in the Caithness region in the north of Scotland.

It will be set up and run by Baillie Wind Farm, in which Statkraft holds an 80% ownership stake.

Both new wind facilities will be completed in 2013.
