Study blasts LM Wind Power over health and safety failures

An independent audit by classification agency Bureau Veritas (BV) commissioned by LM Wind Power is highly critical of the Danish turbine blade manufacturer.

BV catalogues a failure to implement adequate health and safety rules across 13 of the company’s facilities in Denmark, and says LM Wind should have been quicker to respond to citations from the Danish Working Environment authority (WEA).

However, the BV report says it has not found any staff or former employees who have been diagnosed with brain damage or cancer as a result of working with products containing styrene at LM Wind.

It also says the company has tried to reduce workers’ exposure to styrene.
