The test centre will put turbines through their paces ahead of offshore deployment

The developers behind an offshore wind test centre planned for Aberdeen Bay are “weeks away” from submitting their final application to the Scottish government and are promising a focus on innovation.

The project, known as the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC), is 75% owned by Swedish utility Vattenfall and 25% by the Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group ( AREG).

French oil and gas services company Technip was brought on to manage the design and construction of the EOWDC through its UK subsidiary.
