LM Wind faces criticism in Denmark and the US over its styrene safety record

Denmark's Employment Minister has unveiled new measures to prevent cases of poisoning from styrene, blamed for a spate of illness among production workers at LM Wind Power, and says she expects the world's biggest turbine blade manufacturer to get its house in order on employee safety.

Inger Støjberg says she is “surprised” by the company’s record after receiving a second report on safety breaches at Denmark-based LM, which uses styrene in its production process.

Støjberg says: “It is surprising that the LM Wind has not done more to ensure employee safety.” She adds that she expects new rules to result in LM Wind upgrading its working environment.
