Fluor calls in OMM to work on cabling at Greater Gabbard

Fluor has hired Offshore Marine Management (OMM) to install some of the remaining inter-array cables at the troubled Greater Gabbard offshore wind project left unfinished due to the collapse of Subocean earlier this year.

Bristol-based OMM will immediately begin installing and burying 29 inter-array cables, which will link the 140 Siemens turbines destined to make up the 504MW project off the coast of eastern England.

The deal represents a significant step forward for Bristol-based OMM, which has performed subsea operations at numerous offshore wind farms across Europe in the past eight years, including survey works and cable installations.

The company has been among the most outspoken in the industry regarding looming cabling bottlenecks for the burgeoning offshore wind sector.
