Tractebel Energia to build 145MW for Brazilian market

Tractebel Energia of Brazil, a GDF Suez subsidiary, will build 145.4MW of wind farm capacity - selling the energy produced on the unregulated market.

Siemens will supply turbines for the five wind farms that will go up in the states of Ceará and Piauí. Tractebel Energia’s board of directors approved the measure this week.

The $368m project will join two other Brazilian wind farms owned by Tractebel totaling 44MW of installed capacity. Energy from the new facilities will be sold via the unregulated market rather than through federal tenders.
