LM Wind gets Goldwind blade contract for US project

Goldwind USA has selected LM Wind Power to deliver between 70 and 75 sets of turbine blades for the Chinese company’s 105MW Shady Oaks wind project in Illinois.

Financial details were not released. The blade sets will be manufactured at LM Wind’s plant in Grand Forks, North Dakota, which should result in retention of between 60 and 80 jobs there. LM Wind had announced in January that it would lay off 150 workers in response to a slow-down in the US wind industry.

Goldwind USA plans to begin installation of the permanent magnet direct drive turbines in the second half of this year.
