Lost decade predicted for Dutch offshore wind

Bard's three zones are likely to be the last offshore wind projects built in Dutch waters for at least a decade, as a result of the government's volte-face on renewables, according to a green investment company.

Germany's Bard was the only winner in the Netherlands' latest offshore wind tender, finalised last year. It was awarded subsidies for two of its three zones, each with 300MW of capacity.

Michael van der Heijden, the managing director of Typhoon Capital, which is jointly developing the projects with Bard, says they are likely to be the last wind farms built off the Dutch coast for a "long time".

"I think it's inconceivable that they'll stop subsiding renewable energy forever — I just don't believe that," he tells Recharge. Log in to read complete article.
