REpower clinches 300MW contract for Quebec wind farm

REpower has finalised the first contract within its nearly 1GW framework agreement with RES and EDF Energies Nouvelles in Canada, and will deliver 150 turbines by late 2013.

The turbines – split evenly between REpower’s MM82 and MM92 units – are destined for the 300MW Lac Alfred project 400km northwest of Quebec City.

The project is being developed by the Saint-Laurent Energies Consortium, which is owned jointly by RES Canada and EDF Energies Nouvelles. REpower clinched a 954MW framework agreement with the consortium in late 2009.

The wind farm will be built in two phases, with the first 150MW due in place by the end of 2012, and the second phase a year later.
