August,
the
UK’s
Crown
Estate
approved
the
£150m
($231.8m)
project,
which
is
75%
owned
by
Swedish
utility
Vattenfall
and
25%
by
the
Aberdeen
Renewable
Energy
Group
(AREG).
It
will
be
sited
in
Aberdeen
Bay.
The
for-profit
project
—
known
as
the
European
Offshore
Wind
Deployment
Centre
—
is
unusual
in
that
it
will
utilise
11
massive
next-generation
turbines
from
several
different
manufacturers,
totalling
50-100MW.
Though
it
still
requires
the
Scottish
government’s
consent,
Holyrood
is
expected
to
give
the
nod
quickly
in
order
to
boost
