Mitsubishi and SSE to form offshore wind partnership

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and UK power generator SSE are teaming up

Japanese engineering giant Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and UK power generator SSE Renewables are teaming up to develop new technologies for offshore wind and low carbon vehicles.

The two companies “hope to establish joint development projects, ventures, investments and supply arrangements through this agreement".

The move seems to be designed to help Mitsubishi win turbine supply contracts for two Round III projects which SSE is participating in, the 9GW Dogger Bank zone and the 3.4GW Firth of Forth zone.

Mitsubishi is planning to develop a 6MW offshore turbine in the UK.
