SERL signs a deal with Chinese shipbuilding company NCSC

Offshore wind specialist SeaEnergy Renewables (SERL) has signed a strategic cooperation deal with China's Nantong COSCO Ship Steel Structure

In what appears to be another twist in its strategy, offshore wind specialist SeaEnergy Renewables (SERL) has signed a strategic cooperation deal with China’s Nantong COSCO Ship Steel Structure (NCSC), the country’s largest shipbuilding company.

Scotland-based SERL says the deal is expected to lead “to a definitive agreement to develop and market turbine jacket substructures, towers and access systems for offshore wind farms.”

It adds that the two companies will work together over the coming months to develop a detailed business plan which will form the basis of their ongoing relationship.

The agreement was signed in Shanghai in the presence of Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond.

SERL says the relationship between the two companies developed following an initial meeting at the China WindPower conference in 2009.
