Iberdrola finishes $300m Rugby wind farm in North Dakota

Iberdrola Renewables has completed construction of its $300m, 149 megawatt wind farm near Rugby, north-central North Dakota. The company now operates more than 3,500MW of wind power in the US.

Missouri River Energy Services of Sioux Falls, S.D., will buy 40MW of power from the project, and distribute part of it to utility operations in North Dakota cities of Cavalier, Hillsboro, Lakota, Northwood, Riverdale and Valley City.

Missouri River Energy supplies power to about 60 municipal electric systems in four states. MRES member communities own and operate local electric distribution systems. MRES is a provider of electric power and energy to its members.

Iberdrola is looking for other customers for the remaining 109MW of power from the Rugby project.
