Duke selects Siemens as second Wyoming project turbine supplier

Duke Energy Generation Services has selected Siemens as its other wind turbine supplier for the proposed 200 megawatt Top of the World project near the City of Casper in east-central Wyoming.

Duke says the agreement with Siemens calls for it to supply 44 turbines of 2.3MW each. As reported by Recharge, General Electric will provide 66 1.5MW turbines.

Project construction is scheduled to begin in 2010 once the state approves all necessary building and environmental permits..

PacifiCorp in August signed a long-term power purchase agreement Duke to buy all of the renewable power that will be generated by Top of the World.

In other news, Duke says its 70MW North Allegheny project is producing electricity for FirstEnergy under a long-term power purchase agreement.
