The first of three stages to be completed at the Cristal wind power complex, the new plant comprises 13 2.3MW Siemens turbines for a total capacity of 30MW.
Once completed, the €165m ($226m) Cristal project will have a total capacity of 90MW.
The company did not specify a completion or operations schedule for the complex.
EGP, which is building the wind farms through its subsidiary Enel Brasil Participacoes, won the contracts for the plants in the September 2010 wind-power tender. It has also been recently awarded a contract for 11MW of solar power in Brazil
This adds to its 503MW of wind and hydro that the Italian renewable company obtained in Brazilian public auctions between 2010 and 2013, with 253MW currently under construction.
In addition to the Cristal complex, the company is building the Curva and Serra Azul wind farms in the state of Bahia.
