Brazil’s biggest private generator Tractebel Energia has turned on the 30MW Flexeiras I wind farm, located in the northeast state of Ceará.
The project was built to serve the unregulated
market and its turbines were supplied by German manufacturer Siemens.
November 2012, Fleixeiras was listed by the United Nations Organization as part
of the Clean
Development Mechanism framework.
“The listing acknowledges the company’s investments’ contribution to clean and
sustainable development, enabling it to generate carbon credits for the
duration of the facilities’ life,” said Tractebel, a subsidiary of French giant
Tractebel has 159MW of operational wind farms in Brazil.
The generator is also working on the construction of a 3MW solar pilot project
in the city of Tubarão
in the southern state of Santa Catarina, where the company has its headquarters.
