Siemens Energy has secured a further US order from San Francisco-based Pattern Energy group, this time for the 182MW Panhandle 2 wind project in Carson County, Texas.

The project will consist of 79 of Siemens’ SWT-2.3-108 turbines and is scheduled for commissioning in November.

“Pattern Energy Group is one of our most important US customers," says Markus Tacke, chief executive of the Wind Power division of Siemens Energy.

The order also includes a service and maintenance agreement.

Pattern stresses that Panhandle 2 will use Siemens turbines with rotor blades and nacelles that are made in the US, creating local manufacturing jobs, while at the same time being environmentally conscious.
