KCP&L, Element sign 200MW PPA

Utility Kansas City Power and Light has signed a long-term agreement to purchase all 200MW of power from the planned Mill Creek Wind Farm under development by Element Power.

Terms of the deal were not made public. When operational, the $400m Mill Creek project will be the largest wind farm in the state of Missouri.

Element anticipates construction will begin in the third quarter with expected commercial operation in fourth quarter 2015. It will generate electricity for 60,000 homes.

Element is owned by Hudson Clean Energy Partners, a leading global private equity firm dedicated solely to investing in renewable power, alternative fuels, and energy efficiency and storage.
