Gamesa 50MW deal in Costa Rica

Spanish group Gamesa has secured a deal to build and equip a 50MW wind farm in Costa Rica.

Gamesa will install 25 of its G87 2MW turbines at the Orosi wind farm in the country’s Guanacaste region under a turnkey deal with developer Globeleq Mesoamerica Energy.

The plant is expected to be completed late this year or early next, with finance coming from lenders including the US Ex-Im Bank and the Dutch Development Bank.

Work at the project will include substation installation and grid connection.

After completion Gamesa will provide O&M services for five years.

The Spanish wind group has previously worked with Globeleq on projects in Honduras and Nicaragua.
