Alstom has won a €400m ($545m) follow-on order for wind turbines from Brazilian infrastructure group Queiroz Galvão.
Between 2015-17 the French industrial giant will supply and install 136 of its Eco122 turbines, rated at 2.7MW each, for the Caldeirão Grande I and II projects, both in the northeastern Brazilian state of Piauí.
The turbines, with rotors stretching to 122m, will be manufactured at Alstom’s factory in Camaçari, Bahia state.
The turbine order is the second for Alstom from Queiroz Galvão, the first having been signed in 2012 for two wind farms in northeastern Brazil.
The deal underscores the “good partnership” between the two companies, says Marcos Costa, country president for Alstom Brazil.
Alstom has emerged as a major supplier within the fast-growing Brazilian wind sector, having landed contracts worth more than 1.7GW.
