Siemens 2.3MW turbines are on their way to Iowa

Siemens has confirmed an order to supply MidAmerican Energy with 448 wind turbines with a combined capacity of 1.05GW.

The order was first made public in November by the Warren Buffett-owned US power company, but Siemens only today confirmed details of the deal.

The German industrial giant said this is the largest order for onshore wind turbines for Siemens so far, and claims it is also the largest single deal for onshore wind power globally to date.

The 2.3MW turbines with a rotor diameter of 108 metres are slated to be installed in five different projects in Iowa.
