Vestas linked with Microsoft PPA

Software giant Microsoft has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for the output from a 110MW Texas wind farm it says will be equipped with Vestas turbines.

Microsoft will buy all the output from the Keechi Wind project under a 20-year PPA signed with developer RES Americas.

A statement from Microsoft said the plant, which will be built in the Fort Worth area,  “will include 55 wind turbines which will be manufactured by Vestas, largely in Colorado”.

Vestas itself said it was aware of “information in the market” and would make an announcement of its own when a firm and unconditional order is placed.

Keechi will supply power to the network that feeds Microsoft’s data centre in San Antonio.
