Pattern Energy Group reports that it has installed the first of 50 Siemens 2.3MW wind turbines at the El Arrayan project on the coast of Chile near Ovalle, north of Santiago.

Pattern, an independent power producer, is a joint venture owner of El Arrayán with a net ownership interest of 31.5%, or 36MW. Its partner is AEI El Arrayán Chile, a subsidiary of AEI Energy. Antofagasta Minerals, the off-taker, owns 30% of the project.

El Arrayan, which will be the largest wind project in Chile, is expected to be operational in June of 2014.

Pattern has a portfolio of eight wind power projects with a total owned capacity of 1,041MW.
