Google signs 240MW Texas PPA



Web giant Google has signed a deal to buy all output from the 240MW Happy Hereford wind farm in Texas.

The agreement with developer Chermac Energy is the latest in a string of deals by Google to increase its exposure to renewables, either as a project investor or a consumer of power.

The search-engine behemoth will use renewable energy credits (RECs) accompanying the power to offset consumption at its Mayes County, Oklahoma data centre. It has signed five such contracts in a bid to “green” its hugely power-intensive data facilities around the world.
