EDF powers up 164MW in Mexico

EDF Energies Nouvelles has announced the start of commercial operations at the 164MW Bii Stinu wind project in Oaxaca, Mexico.

The wind farm uses 82 Gamesa G80 turbines and was developed by the French group’s local subsidiary, EDF EN Mexico.

The project is 50% owned by Japanese conglomerate Mitsui, which bought into the wind farm in January via a newly-established subsidiary called MIT Renewables Mexico.

Power from Bii Stinu will be sold to a variety of corporate entities via 15-year supply deals.
