According to Zaroni, Tractebel is analysing if the ceiling-price of R$117 ($77) per MWh for the next “reserve” tender is attractive enough for building the new project.
The Santa Mônica wind project is located in the state of Ceará, near the 115MW Trairí wind complex that is being built by the company.
Being close to the Trairí complex gives the Santo Mônica project important synergies when issuing its bid in the auction process.
The Trairí complex is slated to become operational by the end of this year. The project has sold its output on Brazil’s unregulated market and it will account for R$540m of total investments.
Currently Tractebel Energia, a subsidiary of the French utility GDF Suez, has an operational wind portfolio of 44MW.
The generator is also working on the construction of a 3MW solar pilot project in the city of Tubarão, in the southern state of Santa Catarina, where the company has its headquarters.
