Enbridge, EDF extend Canada ties

Enbridge has closed an agreement to acquire a 50% interest in the 80MW Saint-Robert-Bellarmin Wind Project in Quebec from EDF EN Canada.

Financial terms were not made public. It is Enbridge’s third partnership with EDF for wind farms in Quebec.

Dan Thompson, vice president of green energy and power transmission at Enbridge, says the deals with EDF are delivering “solid returns and stable cash flow.” He calls the Quebec wind market “attractive.”

Saint-Robert-Bellarmin, 300km east of Montreal, reached commercial operation in October 2012 and delivers energy to Hydro-Quebec Distribution under a 20-year contract. It utilizes 40 REpower turbines.

EDF’s operation and maintenance affiliate EDF Renewable Services Inc. will continue to provide long-term operations and maintenance services.
