Xcel unit seeks additional 600MW

A subsidiary of Xcel Energy has submitted a proposal to regulators in Minnesota and North Dakota to add 600MW of wind resource by early 2016.

Sent by Northern States Power Company for regulatory review are:

• Courtenay Wind Farm, a 200MW project of up to 125 turbines to be located near Jamestown, North Dakota. Developer Geronimo Energy would supply electricity under a long-term contract to the utility.

• Odell Wind Farm, a 200MW project of up to 125 turbines to be sited near Windom, Minnesota. Geronimo also has a long-term power purchase agreement with Northern States.

• Pleasant Valley, a 200MW project near Austin, Minnesota. RES America would develop it and then transfer ownership to Northern States. Xcel Energy.
