Alstom enters Canadian wind with 414MW deal

Alstom is in line to supply 138 ECO 110s

France’s Alstom is staking its first claim in the Canadian wind-power market through a €420m ($548m) deal to deliver 138 of its 3MW ECO 110 turbines to NaturEner Energy’s giant Wild Rose developments in southeast Alberta.

The high-yield turbines – 110-metre-diameter rotor machines designed for intermediate wind speeds averaging 8.5 metres per second – will be assembled at Alstom’s plants in Amarillo, Texas, and Buñuel, Spain, with other components sourced globally.

Manufacturing for the 414MW Wild Rose wind farms, which will be the largest in Canada once built, will kick-off once Alstom receives a Notice to Proceed, which is subject to the financial close of the project and its successful permitting.
