Court dismisses suits against Ocotillo project

A federal court has dismissed claims made by opponents of the 265MW Ocotillo Wind Project in southern California against developer Pattern Energy Group and the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

The Federal District Court for the Southern District of California ruled that both BLM and Pattern conducted the necessary studies on the project’s impact on public lands where it is located, and took measures to avoid or minimize it.

One lawsuit was brought before the court by the Quechan Tribe of the Fort Yuma Indian Reservation and the other by several parties.

"These rulings confirmed that we and the BLM followed the rules, working with Native American tribes, community groups and local residents during the development process,” says Pattern chief executive Mike Garland. Log in to read complete article.
