Alstom in 1.2GW, $1.3bn Brazil wind deal

The deal is the "most important" for Alstom's onshore ambitions

France’s Alstom has signed a deal worth more than €1bn ($1.35bn) to supply at least 1.2GW of wind turbines to Renova Energia, the Brazilian developer.

Alstom, which described the deal as its "most important" in onshore wind, will supply, operate and maintain about 440 turbines under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed today.

The machines will be in the 2.7MW to 3MW range and will equip Renova’s wind farms in the state of Bahia. They will be delivered from 2015 onwards, over an estimated three to four years.

Alstom has long since seen Brazil as a key target for its wind turbines, and will this year open its second factory in the South American country.
