Invenergy closes finance for 136MW of Quebec wind

Invenergy has closed financing for the first 135.7MW phase of its Des Moulin wind farm in Québec, saying that it continues to see development opportunities in the Canadian province.

The financial institutions involved in the transaction – comprising construction, bridge and term loans – include the Prudential Capital Group, Rabobank, and Sunlife Assurance Company of Canada.

Invenergy will use Enercon E-82 turbines, rated at 2.3MW each, at Des Moulin, which is under construction some 225km northeast of Montreal. The electricity generated will be sold to Hydro Québec under a 20-year power supply agreement.

Invenergy used Enercon E-70 machines at Le Plateau, its only existing Québec wind farm. Germany-based Enercon has a turbine factory in Matane, Québec.
