“Ontario’s electricitysystem will continue to evolve over 2014 and beyond with the introduction ofsolar energy to the grid, demand response and wind generation developing criticalmass, as well as the nuclear refurbishment program,” says IESO chief executiveBruce Campbell.

In 2013, nuclear was theleading energy source with 59.2% followed by hydro 23.4%, gas 17.1%, wind, coal2.1% and other sources 0.8%.

"We believe thatfuture electricity supply in Ontario should be drawn from a balanced mix of newwind energy, in combination with natural gas and other renewable energysources, to ensure that Ontario has a reliable, robust and cost-competitiveelectricity system," says Robert Hornung, president of the Canadian WindEnergy Association.
